Empty chairs ,empty benches lined one behind the other
waiting eagerly to be filled
with blank papers above the bench
waiting to be touched

out of the corrridor
stood young girls and boys
some grave
some serious
mutterd their prayers first time
none would hear the heart beat
except themselves
with tension rising up
fear that gripped their hearts

The bell sound alerted them
empty chairs ,empty benches were
soon filled

calm and silent remained
the entire hall
heads bent down
eyes that searched for familiar questions
few hands busy with writing
few eyes that stared down at their paper
hands that refused to write

others lacked good memory
stuck in between their writing
not knowing how to proceed further

eyes that drowsed in between filled with heavy sleep
eyes that looked into others paper
to get glimpse of answer
afraid of the stern glance of teacher
wondering whether their fates hung in their question paper

For some time flew away
some waited for the time to pass
TIME UP SAID ONE OF THE TEACHER
PAPERS WERE soon COLLECTED

god's anger enrages the waves

with thunder ,lightning
your waves become gigantic waves
that you swallow humans
submerge many lands in your hunger
unknown treasures lay hidden within you.

a world to explore

human beings are just tiny toys in your sight

like cleaning the lavatory etc.untouchable in order to escape the scourge of untouchability had joined the anglican church with the hope that they would be treated alike but to their dismay they had separate church ,separate sevices and separate priests .untouchable were not supposed to touch anything that touchabes touched.untouchables were not allowed to walk on public roads .They were not allowed to cover their upper bodies.They had to put their hands over their mouth when they spoke to divert their polluted breath away from those whom addressed.Where as in the case of veluthahe was expert in carpentary skill as well as in machines in the factory of paradse pickles but pravans were not meant to be carpenters but inspite of that velutha tries to climb the ladder of the society.mammachi paid velutha more than the other untouchables in the factory this made other untouchables to resent velutha.

It is a novel that talks about a rape victim kalpana.Rape is seen even in marriage in the case of urmi's mother in law mira through her poems she expresses her hatred of how her husband forced himself upon her.mira symblizes women who are forced in to loveless marriage and become victim to rape in marriage.The novel in general talks about a rape victim.when a girl or a women is rape she is seen as a disgrace in her family.Especially if is a unmarried girl the parents usually try to hush it up because they fear that no body would come to marry the raped girl girl .Thus in a country like india rape is usually hushed up .The blame is usually put on the girl rather than the man who committed it .thus rape victim donot come forward to report it either .thus through the character of kalpana the author emphasis on women to come forward to report rape.this can be seen in the case of urmi who comes forward to fight for the justice of rape victim kalpana .urmi stands for women of courage and strength.
